Our Team
Allison Masyada

We are thrilled to announce our fearless program leader starting the 2020-2021 season: Allison Masyada!

Allison Masyada grew up in Louisville, KY and played field hockey for Ballard High School. After graduating from Ballard in 2014, she went on to play Division 2 field hockey at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina. While at Limestone, Allison was a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee where she helped to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affected student-athletes' lives on campus. After graduating from Limestone, Allison continued her passion of field hockey through coaching. She coached the Junior Varsity team at Ballard for 2018 and 2019 seasons while also serving as a head coach at IFHCK field hockey club. Allison’s goal as a coach is to support and challenge the girls in a way that teaches them personal accountability. She believes that by coaching field hockey, she is not only pushing the girls to become better athletes, but also strong and independent women in the future. While coaching field hockey, Allison also works at Harshaw Trane in Louisville as an Event Specialist. She is looking forward to her first season as Head Varsity coach for Ballard this year!

“I played field hockey at Ballard for four years and graduated in 2015. I also played for IFHCK for multiple years. I went on to the University of Kentucky and played for their club team for four years and was the president during my senior year. I received a degree in health promotion with a focus on sports health and childhood development. I am currently finishing my nursing degree at Spalding University and will be an orthopedic nurse. I am most excited about coming back to coach for a program that made a huge impact on my life.”

  • Favorite Team: I’m a proud Kentucky Wildcat fan and alum.

  • Favorite Food: Chick-fil-A is my go-to place.

  • Pets: I have a puppy named Cooper, who is my best bud.

  • Interesting Fact: In a few months, I get to start my dream career as a nurse.

Abigail Goldberg
Abigail Goldberg,

Abigail played four years of field hockey for Ballard and five years for IFHCK before going on to play Division 1 field hockey for Longwood University until her graduation in May 2021. At Longwood, Abigail majored in psychology and minored in business administration. In the summer of 2019, she traveled to Budapest to represent Maccabi Team USA on the Women’s Field Hockey team and competed in the European Games, finishing in 3rd place and earning a bronze medal. Now she’s working at the Jewish Community Center in Louisville as the BBYO Teen Director. “I am super excited to be coaching at Ballard in the program that shaped me as the player and person I am today.”

Jon Beam
Jon Beam,
Assistant Coach

You read that right, after coaching field hockey to elementary Bowen Bees teams; and then spending six years coaching the Kammerer Cubs field hockey team to three semi-finals games, three championship matches, and one championship victory; and then serving as a Board Member who worked diligently for the program, Jon Beam is now on the coaching team! Jon will be helping wherever Coach Allison needs a boost and we are so happy to have him continue on in leading Ballard Bruins to be the best they can be. Jon and his wife, Dana, had two daughters come through the program. “I am excited to be a part of Allison’s coaching staff and helping with the girls’ development and team goals. Field hockey has been a part of my life for the last 15 years and I look forward to the next chapter with these girls!”
