We are thrilled to announce our fearless program leader starting the 2020-2021 season: Allison Masyada!

Allison Masyada grew up in Louisville, KY and played field hockey for Ballard High School. After graduating from Ballard in 2014, she went on to play Division 2 field hockey at Limestone College in Gaffney, South Carolina. While at Limestone, Allison was a part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee where she helped to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affected student-athletes' lives on campus. After graduating from Limestone, Allison continued her passion of field hockey through coaching. She coached the Junior Varsity team at Ballard for 2018 and 2019 seasons while also serving as a head coach at IFHCK field hockey club. Allison’s goal as a coach is to support and challenge the girls in a way that teaches them personal accountability. She believes that by coaching field hockey, she is not only pushing the girls to become better athletes, but also strong and independent women in the future. While coaching field hockey, Allison also works at Harshaw Trane in Louisville as an Event Specialist. She is looking forward to her first season as Head Varsity coach for Ballard this year!

Allison Masyada,

Kirsty Fields,
Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Kirsty will be joining us in 2020-2021 for her FOURTH consecutive year at Ballard, but this time she will be in a new role! She will have been coaching with most of this year’s seniors since they were freshmen.

“Growing up in Louisville, most of my time was spent playing field hockey. Starting in 2nd grade, I knew the sport was very special to me. I played for IFHCK’s National Team and NIT Team for several years and spent four years on Ballard’s Varsity team. The Bruins field always made me feel at home and like I was a part of a family. My goal as a coach is to create the same encouraging environment I had as a high school player. After receiving several college offers, I made the decision to stop playing but have missed the sport ever since. This will be my fourth year coaching at Ballard, starting as the freshman coach, then moving up to being a JV coach, and now getting ready for my first year coaching Varsity. I am also a first grade teacher at Harmony Elementary and just received my principal certification. I love anything fitness related, and morning conditioning is one of my favorite times! I am so excited for the awesome season that is to come and look forward to seeing all the girls’ hard work pay off!”

  • Birth Place: I was born in California

  • Big News: I am getting married in June ‘21

  • Pets: I have a dog named Blue

  • Favorite Foods: I love french fries and pizza

She then played D2 field hockey at Bellarmine University where she majored in Mathematics with a minor in Business Administration. Helena works at Computershare as a Market Analyst. In her free time, she loves to take group fitness classes and cook. This is Helena’s second year with the Ballard Varsity team. She is most excited to help the girls push themselves to be the best they can be on and off the field. With a lot of fresh talent coming to Varsity this year, she “can’t wait to watch the team learn new skills from each other and thrive!”
